Cbd-infused Activewear: How Does It Impact the Cannabis Industry?

CBD and activewear are two things one would never imagine being related and being merged. CBD-infused activewear brings life into that idea.

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is the second most active among the elements of cannabis, which is even more commonly known as marijuana or weed. CBD’s origins can be traced directly to the hemp plant, a plant closely related to the marijuana plant. This makes CBD an essential ingredient in the structure of medical marijuana.

Moreover, CBD, on its own, does not cause a “high” to the individuals who may consume this substance. This fact somehow contradicts public belief and is a surprising one given that CBD, as mentioned, is an element found in marijuana. The theory has also been supported by the experts of the World Health Organization. “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD,” the organization said.

Several countries have legalized the use of cannabis, which has been regarded as a bold, unconventional move. Canada is one of the states that has done this, which legalized cannabis for recreational use in 2018. This legalization move by the country follows the already existing act of cannabis being used for medical purposes. Cannabis has been found to provide a cure too and manage various health afflictions, including cancer and anxiety.

Activewear, meanwhile, is defined as “clothes that are worn for sports or other physical activities.” The clothing, aside from providing comfort for athletes as they subject themselves to physical activities, has also been worn by non-athletes for exercise, and even for casual situations. These situations may be general relaxation or going out for coffee and meeting friends.

CBD-infused activewear aims to merge the inherent qualities and health benefits of each object. Read on to know their benefits.

Health Benefits, Advantages Of Cannabis And Activewear

Cannabis helps much in curing distinct diseases such as cancer. Research shows that cannabis curbs and ceases cancer cells from multiplying. This has repeatedly been detected, confirmed, and specified in studies and medical journals like the Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. It also averts Alzheimer’s Disease. It contains THC, an active element in cannabis which hampers the severity of the disease and prohibits the production of amyloid plaques in the brain.

Cannabis has also been found to have the ability to treat other diseases such as Glaucoma, Arthritis, manages epileptic and Dravet’s Syndrome seizures.

It can address muscular pain and any other sensations of pain associated with those diseases and symptoms of other illnesses. Some of these ills are Hepatitis C, the mentioned muscular pain, nausea, and appetite loss. Cannabis is known to cure and has the ability to cool down muscle spasms for those who have multiple sclerosis and from chemotherapy’s side effects.

It also defends one’s brain after experiencing a stroke, minimizes the signs and can even diminish Crohn’s disease, manages tremors for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, and cure more common mental disabilities such as anxiety, depression, nightmares, and PTSD.

Meanwhile, activewear can benefit women more in terms of their health rather than wearing everyday clothes, a study finds. The study also found that women who wear exercise clothes, even when they exercise or not, or whether they will participate in sports, could feel more encouraged to engage in physical activity.

Another benefit of activewear is its ability to control body moisture. Cotton of regular clothing can easily absorb sweat and retain moisture, which may leave their wearers feeling damp and heavy. However, activewear has sweat-removing qualities, given its lightweight material, it gives way to ventilation and keeps its wearers dry.

This type of clothing enhances blood circulation. When a person engages in physical activity, their blood gives oxygen to their muscles, causing a lactic acid build-up. It often causes one to experience pain, fatigue, and cramping. Activewear counteracts this by stimulating blood flow, which results in reduced lactic acid production. Activewear can help in improving one’s performance and muscle recovery.

The clothing is especially beneficial to those who prefer to wear workout garments (also stylish) during regular daily activities. This may avoid injuries related to movements done suddenly and without control. It minimizes body stiffness and recoup the strength one would lose within 24 to 72 hours after the workout. Lastly, it can lower body soreness and boost one’s recovery time.

What Is CBD-infused Activewear?

In 2019, an activewear manufacturer named Acabada released to the market the world’s first CBD- infused activewear called the ProActiveWear. The manufacturer, which is also billed as the only CBD- infused activewear brand, included the following pieces to the collection: Leggings, jumpsuit; sports bras; and cycling shorts.

The CBD-infused activewear is said to be made “using high-performance fabrics that are strategically infused with up to 25 grams of zero-THC, lab-certified, 99.9% pure CBD,” Acabada says.  The fabric of the clothes is infused with CBD through the microencapsulation process, where small amounts of CBD are placed in microcapsules then planted into the fibers of the fabric.

These microcapsules are said to target particular muscle areas to minimize pain and inflammation. As the wearer of the CBD-infused activewear begins exercising, their skin brushes against the clothing, resulting in the capsules’ opening that releases CBD. The wearer’s skin then absorbs the CBD.

The CBD-infused activewear helps the body recover while being subjected to physical activity, aside from previously giving CBD benefits.
